An end to the blogular hiatus
Sorry for the break without even an FRT, but things got crazy for a little while there, what with papers due and the purchaser at work getting sacked, dumping even more work onto the overworked and understaffed admin/accounting department, and most of my blogging gets done from work. I'm finally just one class and 0 papers (though 4 exams) away from the end of semester! Though, that doesn't mean much, since I'm taking summer classes too, but that's only part time.
Of course, things are still intensely crazy at work, but I have hometime freed up now by the end of classes. Second year status: Complete!

FRT - Worst Feminist Ever Edition
First FRT on this blog to have actually come from my home mp3 list!
The Beatles - Hey jude
REM - I am superman
Sheryl Crow - Sll i wanna do
U2 - Still haven't found what I'm looking for
Lisa Loeb - Hurricane
Barenaked Ladies - Who needs sleep
Muse - Sing for absolution
Amanda Marshall - Shades of grey
Medieval Baebes - Erthe upon erthe
Our Lady Peace - Starseed
So, I'm the worst feminist ever, I actually skipped Blog Against Sexism day yesterday... but then again, every day is blog against sexism day in my books, if not actually on my blog, since daily posting is probably not an option for me.
My roommates just got back from watching 300 - apparently, between their reviews and what I've seen online, it's just propaganda for the looming US attempt to declare war on Iran. I'll have to see it for myself (hopefully free and/or pirated) and see.

FRT - The Paaaaaaaaain Edition
The Smashing Pumpkins - Muzzle
Nirvana - All Apologies
Foo Fighters - Learn to Fly
Cool for August - Big Night
Monster Magnet - King of Mars
Vast - Thrown Away
Course of Nature - Caught in the Sun
Oasis - Stand by Me
Aerosmith - Jaded
theSTART - Death By Satellite
An awfully dudely FRT. That's my main issue with Pandora - it isn't actually Random, it can't be, it works by putting musically similar songs in order.
As for the paaaaaaain, I actually went to the gym yesterday in an attempt to get myself into a less injury prone state. Of course, my models for gym activities are of the ilk of Mistress Krista and Spinning Liz, which means I'm in agony from lifting with my rather blogger-nerdly body. Hopefully I'll be recovered enough by Monday to start again.
I'm so glad they're both online to provide advice and inspiration for the female lifter, because honestly I was terrified when I walked into the weights area and felt so unfamiliar with the equipment, and the experienced lifters (all male) looked so... hostile... while the women over on the treadmills kept looking at me and giggling when I approached the weights. I probably would have given up and trudged back over to the elipsis machine in defeat if it hadn't been for their excellent advice.
Oh dear. Speaking of the Pain, my father just showed up at my work out of the blue and wants to go snowboarding on Sunday. Different hill this time though, and looks like there will be more snow and less ice.
Here's hoping.

Exactly.
An obsession with polite or correct public language is a sign that communication is in decline. It means that the process and exercise of power have replaced debate as a public value. The citizen’s job is to be rude — to pierce the comfort of professional intercourse by boorish expressions of doubt. Politics, philosophy, writing, the arts — none of these, and certainly not science and economics, can serve the common weal if they are swathed in politeness. In everything which affects public affairs, breeding is for fools.

Blatantly stolen from here.

Montreal!
My bus to Montreal leaves in about two hours - I'm swamped at work atm so no FRT this weekend, but at least I'm posting!
I'm going to a conference as a delegate for a charity that I do work for. I'm pretty excited - I've never been to Montreal. Hopefully I can bring back some pictures if I don't get stuck in meetings all day.
The snowboarding adventure went remarkably badly, I've been laid up all week with deep muscle bruising in my left thigh & shoulder, and I pulled my neck muscles so badly I could hardly move my head. I really, really need to hit the gym so I'm less prone to injury.
