Er, sorry, followed you over from Pandagon, didn't want to post OT-there, being a lurker and all. Two things re. the book you are looking for:
Chapters is huge, but that does not mean they carry many titles. In the past few years, they've actually been contracting their list of titles stocked, so you will actually find less variety there (IOW, only the books that fly off the shelves get stocked). I know this b/c I used to work there. Stupid Chapters.
Also, if a book is always out and has holds on it, (which means you cannot recall it), Carleton and UofO should be able to order it on interlibrary loans for you. Just tell them it is always unavailable, and you would like them to find an available copy through interlibrary. Not sure if they still have a charge for that; I'm at Dalhousie now and they offer the service for free. Interlibrary means the system will find a book, somewhere in Canada/North America, and send it to you! You were probably already aware of this, and maybe trying to avoid having to talk to cranky circulations people, but it's worth a try. Good luck!
